Tickets: http://www.bso-orchestra.be/main/node/13 / Le chef d’orchestre; David Miller; habite notre quartier. / The Bruocsella Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is an international group of amateur; professional; ex-professional and student musicians. It was formed in 1996 as a chamber orchestra by a group of friends who regularly played chamber music together and wished to expand their musical horizons. Under its first conductor; Alain Baudhuin; the orchestra grew rapidly into a full-sized symphony orchestra. Soon afterwards; it was formally established as a non-profit organization (ASBL/VZW) with the aim of giving concerts to benefit charitable causes. / Jan Steenbrugge took over as conductor in September 2002. Since then; the regular highlights of each BSO season of concerts are those for children in the Autumn and the concerts with soloists (including the Belgian laureate of 2007 Queen Elisabeth piano competition). / The orchestra’s rehearsals are held on Sunday evenings and; mainly due to the turnover of the international community in Brussels; the BSO is constantly seeking new members. To book the orchestra for a fund-raising event; please contact our President Mary Wiklander-Williams (0476 55 38 31). / The Belgian/American musician David Miller; has made a 35 year career based in Brussels as a pianist; conductor; and composer. The majority of his piano playing has always been as a repetitor in major European Opera Houses; including La Monnaie; La Bastille; Toulouse; Dresden; La Scala; as well as the summer festivals Bayreuth and Pesaro. / As a conductor; after assisting; among others; John Pritchard; Giuseppe Sinopoli and Sir Colin Davis; David Miller has conducted public performances with the orchestras of La Monnaie; the Liège Opera; the Dresden Opera; as well as the Orchestre de Chambre de Wallonie with José Van Dam; Sinfonietta; the Charlemagne Orchestra; and the orchestras of the opera houses of Santiago de Chile and Genova. He has conducted many operettas and musicals with BLOC and the American Theater Company in Brussels. In the past; his annual Christmas concert at the Palais de Beaux Arts was a highlight of the Brussels holiday season. David Miller is also regularly invited to conduct student orchestras in various conservatories; including the Brussels Francophone Conservatory. / David Miller’s musical comedy; « TOM SAWYER » was recently premiered in Woluwe Cultural Center and went on to a very successful run at the Hotel Dolce in La Hulpe. His film music includes original pieces and arrangements for; « The Pencil Murders »; « Le Maitre de Musique »; « L’Année de l’Eveil »; and « Farinelli ». / David Miller is married to the Belgian/American musician and educator; Marty Rowe; and the proud father of six and grandfather of one; most of whom also call Brussels home.
