Agenda for the monthly meeting

8 pm – Maison de Quartier Ambiorix

1/ Approval of the minutes of the meeting of 13 May 2025 and agenda for the meeting:

2/ Presentation by the President of the board of directors vision for the ‘new year’

After a two-month break, we are meeting to kick off the new GAQ year.
We would like to take this opportunity to bring you up to date with the latest news.

First of all, we would like to introduce the new GAQ team
     Christian Dekeyser remains our Chairman
     Philippe Deboeck becomes our Treasurer
     Chantal Matthys remains as Secretary
Nina Bachkatov leads the quality of life working group and supports the Secretariat
Kristine De Mulder will be responsible for external relations and communications in collaboration with Philippe Deboeck.
Alain Dewez leads urban planning and
     Michaël Van Gompen leads mobility

For the other working groups, the environment is part of quality of life, the working group “fêtes” is led by Barbara Ludwig and the Infor-Quartier working group by Barbara Bentein. Other members are joining to support these various groups. In any case, given the evolution and inequality of the themes, the administrators will show more flexibility in the management of tasks.

3/ Management
The Board of Directors believes that our neighbourhood deserves special attention. Its deliberations have led it to focus on “.. preserving façades (particularly with regard to insulation regulations) but also … a new form of Brusselsification and laxity that threatens the preservation of buildings typical of Brussels, which fascinate foreign visitors. … Yet people are doing whatever they want: removing balconies, modifying window frames and entrance doors, e.g. replacing double doors with single doors made of PVC or aluminium with a row of letterboxes, ground-level windows, replacing sculpted cornices with PVC ones, etc.). … This reminder of the law, and penalties for infringements, is essential if the neighbourhood is to regain stable residents instead of ‘temporary’ ones with short-term contracts. This could attract businesses other than sandwich shops and chocolate shops“. This theme will be a common thread for invitations to speakers, communication and the website, support for specific initiatives, and responses to requests from local residents.
The Board is considering how to set up a long-term ‘observation post’ for good practices, which would be run by people whose job it is to do so. All ideas are welcome.

4/ Urban planning

  • The public inquiries posted on our website are those that could elicit reactions from local residents. These messages invite you to get involved in neighbourhood life, protect your environment and the quality of our neighbourhood! A template letter is available on request.
  • Regarding the public inquiry for the Parc du Cinquantenaire, here is the notice of the commission de concertation.
